Designed for my personal online store, this ENVISION / FUTURES line encourages bold envisioning of the different futures for oneself and one’s community. In line with this, patches / text include: Imagine / Create, Resonance, One Step at a Time, What if the best is yet to come?, and 夢想 ‘Dream’. I was inspired by racecar jackets, Y2K logos, and futuristic/retro styles.
Initially, I wanted to create a black and white base for high contrast, with rainbow elements throughout to symbolize an artist’s palette in imagining and creating new futures, as well as alluding to more traditional meanings of pride, hope, and promise.
For the two final designs, I successfully coupled these with a striking teal/purple palette, as well as a pristine sky blue variation more aligned with my original sketch. I am also most proud of the hand-drawn illustration of a space tiger amongst blooming roses and clouds, adorned in an astronaut helmet to lend a futuristic / surreal vibe that denotes playful possibility.
