Mobile Game Art, Concepts, UI for MassDigi (Ballroom Banter)

As Lead Art Intern for MassDigi for a masquerade-themed card game (Android & iOS), I had a lot of fun designing fashionable characters, choosing poses and expressions that suit their personalities, and collaborating on concept ideation. I also created UI art, collaborating with engineers to ensure smooth implementation.

One of my favorites. I was tasked by the narrative designer to create a design embodied the character’s archetype. From pose and colors to outfit and hair, I made sure each element emphasized the character’s dramatic personality.
This guy was a childhood star and is overconfident in his ability to stay trendy. A flashy fur coat, gelled hair, and cheesy expression seemed key to express this.
For her, I wanted to convey royalty with a dress that looks like a layered cake with flowers, and laden with pearls, reminiscent of Marie Antoinette.
A bit of a mysterious character who yearns for their lost innocence in their younger years. I wanted to evoke this in their outfit and mask designs inspired by jeweled skulls.
Each character has 3 expressions: neutral, positive (when you’re winning them over in conversation) and negative. It was fun to push some expressions and to do more subtle ones for others, depending on their personalities.
